Chelsea have heard some news, which will help them make their next choice.

It’s no secret that Chelsea are looking to sign a new goalkeeper. After their immense summer spending so far, all the memes that circulate social media relate to Frank Lampard still not getting his wish of signing a new goalkeeper.

Kepa Arrizabalaga is an amazing goalkeeper with an abundance of ability between the sticks, which makes it all the more annoying that him and Frank Lampard don’t get along, but it was the same with Maurizio Sarri. If there is no place for the Spaniard and his mentality in Lampard’s project, then it’s best to replace him sooner rather than later.

One name that is thrown into the mix to replace Kepa is Gianluigi Donnarumma. The Italian goalkeeper that is currently playing for AC Milan is coming towards the end of his contract since it runs out in the summer of 2021. With that being said, Chelsea are in a good place to barter over a smaller price.

But it’s not going to be that easy. According to a report from 90mn, the Italy international is demanding a salary increase of almost double, from his current €6m contract to a €10m contract.

Chelsea can take this one of two ways. Due to the price being extortionate, Chelsea are probably in a better place to sign Donnarumma. But at the same time, the Blues must be prudent with their resources, as the amount they are spending currently could bite them in the backside given the economic uncertainty in football, and very much the world, currently.

Of course, Donnarumma is an exceptional player and Chelsea would be incredibly fotunate if they were to secure his signature. He ages at just 21 and is already recognised as one of the best goalkeepers in the world. At the age of only 16, he was already dubbed as the heir to Buffon’s throne, and it’s not just because they shared the same name either.
