Chelsea submit their first bid for Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy
By Kian Long
Chelsea want to get the deal over the line soon.
As the new Premier League season approaches, one thing is key in the transfer window; efficiency. Chelsea will have no problems with this, of course. They have signed four top-quality players already and are in the market for more.
According to a new report from Daily Mail, Chelsea are hopeful they can get a deal over the line soon as they have submitted their opening offer for Edouard Mendy. The English outlet claims the offer is at the £20m mark, which I would assume would only require minimal budging.
Kepa Arrizabalaga is turning into somewhat of a nightmare in the Chelsea ranks because Frank Lampard simply cannot get along with him. He doesn’t buy into Lampard’s philosophy which means it’s best for the club to sell him since Lampard has set the foundations for some great things to come.

Edouard Mendy is a great goalkeeper who helped Rennes exceed expectations in what was a very strange last season. They finished in the top four which is a great achievement for them, and dare I say it may not have been possible without Mendy guarding the sticks.
The Senegal international has great positioning and is able to get low in order to prevent shots from oncoming attackers’s shots. When he does get low, he has a great ability to get back to his feet fast if need be and his prized possession is the way he can prevent shots with most body parts, including his feet.
Chelsea will be getting a great player in Mendy, so you can understand their desire to get the deal over the line fast. If they can secure his signature in the coming week, then they will be able to look at options to offload Kepa and get back some of the money they’ve spent this summer.
Do you think Chelsea will sign Edouard Mendy?
