These also-rans are running out of time for a playoff push

13. Puebla (—)

3-1-5, 10 points, 14 GF, 14 GA

The Camoteros seemed to get too comfy after taking a 2-0 lead against América and it cost them dearly. Juan Reynoso had his team take its foot of the pedal and the prevent defense broke down all too easily.

14. Tijuana (-3)

3-1-5, 10 points, 7 GF, 14 GA

The Xolos have lost all four of their road games but despite playing a man down for 65 minutes at Mazatlán, Pablo Guede’s men almost stole a point. Still, that’s no consolation.

15. Mazatlán (—)

2-3-4, 9 points, 10 GF, 15 GA

Francisco Palencia ought not be too comfortable after his team barely held onto a 1-0 home win over Tijuana despite playing with a man advantage for over an hour. A loss at Atlas on Saturday could still cost him his job.

16. Atlético de San Luis (+2)

2-2-5, 8 points, 12 GF, 16 GA

The Tuneros broke a 4-game losing streak, fighting back from a 1-0 deficit to topple Necaxa.

17. Necaxa (-3)

2-2-5, 8 points, 6 GF, 14 GA

New Rayos coach José Guadalupe “Profe” Cruz has his work cut out for him. His first game in charge showed that quite clearly as Necaxa managed only 41% possession against cellar-dwelling Atlético de San Luis.

18. Toluca (-1)

4-0-5, 12 points, 13 GF, 19 GA

It’s not often that a team sitting in the middle of the table (8th place) finds itself at the bottom of the Power Rankings but this Diablos Rojos team is an absolute mess. The “Choriceros” have given up a league-worst 19 goals in 9 matches. If they lose to América on Saturday night, I don’t see how coach José Manuel “Chepo” de la Torre still has a job.
