Gabriel Magalhaes

Gabriel Magalhaes made a lot of FPL players happy last weekend by scoring on his Arsenal debut. Being thrown in at the deep end courtesy of a David Luiz injury, the fellow Brazilian stepped in well and scored from a corner to open his account, a nice touch to what was a fairly perfect day for the Gunners.

Gabriel is a towering defender who is able to climb above most attackers to see out any aerial threat, while also being spatially aware to avoid any runners behind. He may have a harder time of things against West Ham given the height they pride themselves on in the final third.

Kieran Tierney

It’s not his favoured position, however, even playing in a back-three, the Scotsman is able to get forward and bomb down that left-hand side. Tierney is an excellent defender and having worked under Mikel Arteta, the two often speak highly of each other to the press.

Tierney likes to get involved with all the nitty-gritty tasks, which you can often assume there will be a lot against a team like West Ham. You can also guarantee that when he is in the final third, he will be able to play a good ball into the likes of Lacazette and Aubameyang.

Rob Holding

After many thought that the English defender would be sent out on loan, Luiz’s injury forced him to remain at the club and it ended up being a blessing in disguise. He performed expertly against Fulham and rarely put a foot wrong, even resulting in being a candidate for man of the match.

I’m confident that he will retain his place in the starting XI since Mikel Arteta said he wishes to give William Saliba time to nurture into the Arsenal lineup. Hence, I don’t believe the Frenchman will be starting in this match.
