Reece James

The standout performer of match week 1 for Chelsea was definitely Reece James. The full-back performed expertly and showed neutral fans what he is truly made of; I’m sure he has his mind on achieving an England call-up this summer and the best way to do that is to perform in the big games like this.

He scored a screamer against Brighton and while he may be pinned back more against Liverpool, this is nothing he’s uncomfortable with. He will come up against Andrew Robertson, who is one of the best full-backs in the league. This battle will give Lampard an indication to his lineup going forward, so James will need to be on top form. If his display against Brighton is anything to go by, I’m sure he will be fine.

Kurt Zouma

Another goal-scorer in the Brighton match was Zouma, who likely secured himself a place in this match week. Zouma, regardless of the goal, played well in the defence. He came in with a lot of expectation on his shoulders, given the fact that new signing Thiago Silva was unavailable for selection, but he rose to the occasion well. He deserves to start in this match.

Thiago Silva

The big man could get his big debut on a big occasion. Thiago Silva was left out of the first match of the season through injury. However, according to Football London, the Brazil international has been in training this week and could be available for selection in time for Sunday.

Of course, Lampard will assess whether it is worth the risk depending on how severe his injury is. But one thing’s for sure, fans would love to see Silva making his debut for the Blues.  Azpilicueta

The second change to the defence will be the reintroduction of Cesar Azpilicueta, who was a used substitute against Brighton. Alonso did nothing to set the world alight so for the sake of reshuffling, I can see Lampard giving Azpi some minutes in this important match.
