Timo Werner

Timo Werner didn’t get on the scoresheet like he would have hoped in his first game but if he’s saving his first goal for Liverpool, then Chelsea fans will have no complaints. It would be a bittersweet way to score considering Klopp’s former interest in him.

Werner is a very speedy player and this can oftentimes leave defenders with no other option than to foul him, which was personified as he won the opening penalty for Chelsea last weekend. He showed many positive bursts of pace and he will yet again be part of Lampard’s plans.

Olivier Giroud

This might be a controversial take, but I think Olivier Giroud is the man to start this match. He is a big-game player and he is rarely fazed by the opposition. Having had some good displays against Liverpool in the past, he will hope to get on the score sheet again in this matchup.

Giroud is very physically demanding player, which I think he is the best option to matchup to Virgil van Dijk, who also prides himself on his physicality. These tussles could leave Werner with a lot of space to work with, which is what he thrives on most.

When you think back to the players that Giroud has worked best with in the past; Theo Walcott and Antoine Griezmann, both are similar to Timo Werner. This is because Giroud is great at flicking the ball onto match the runs of his striking partner, so to have a player that likes to exploit the space left by Giroud will be very helpful and could be a big part of Chelsea’s season.

How do you think Chelsea will lineup to face Liverpool?
