Liverpool want to keep up with their competitors this season.
After winning their first Premier League trophy since it was rebranded, Liverpool fans were rightfully over the moon about the triumph. However, they didn’t want to take their foot off the gas and neither did Jurgen Klopp.
The Reds have had a strong start to the season, winning their opening two fixtures against Leeds and Chelsea. Frank Lampard’s new signings were not enough to match Liverpool’s fast-paced attack and Sadio Mane pouncing on mistakes. It was a positive result since many, including myself, believed Chelsea to be Liverpool’s closest competitors this season.
The Reds made a big signing in the summer with Thiago Alcantara, who played well against Chelsea. However, fans feel they still need to add to their spending.

According to a new report from L’Equipe, they may have suffered a setback in this regard. The report claims that Real Madrid will join the pursuit to sign Kylian Mbappe, a player that Jurgen Klopp has shown much interest in this transfer window.
Paris Saint-Germain appear to be heading in a downwards trajectory, if form is anything to go by. Mbappe is now ready for the next stage in his career, to move to an even bigger club. Real Madrid and Liverpool are two of the biggest clubs in the world, although it would seem that Real Madrid tops any competition in the transfer window.
Should fans be hysterical? No, of course not. After all, Mbappe was always going to be a luxury signing anyway, and no one is saying that Liverpool have lost this pursuit. It could all be meaningless tabloid talk, equally.
Mbappe is the best young player in the world so by signing him, Liverpool would automatically be favoured to win the league, if they weren’t already.
