Perhaps Arsenal never really lost interest.

Arsenal have undergone a successful start to the season. They have played three games and won all three, including a Carabao Cup fixture against Leicester City. The fans will hope that this continues for some time.

The new signings Willian and Gabriel Magalhaes have settled into Emirates life well, with Dani Ceballos also returning on loan and of course, Runar Alex Runarsson is set to replace Emiliano Martinez between the sticks.

All in all, there are plenty of reasons for Arsenal fans to feel positive heading into the future with their current setup. However, as we know, Mikel Arteta is not the type to rest on his laurels. He wants to build and keep building until his project is perfect.

That said, it came as a surprise to see the news linking Arsenal with Philippe Coutinho die down. Although, the fans should have saw it coming after Dani Ceballos signed a loan extension with the club since the two play in similar positions and share roles.

According to a new report from Sport, though, the Gunners have rejuvenated their interest in the Brazil international Coutinho. It’s thought that Arteta is leading the chase to sign Coutinho, who is understandably looking for a move away from Barcelona.

There is no denying that Coutinho will benefit Arsenal. When you sign a player of that calibre, you will naturally only expect great things. And his recent reputation at Barcelona is nothing to go by, the Spanish league is just not suited to him.

Coutinho left Liverpool on a quest to win the Champions League and although it may have taken him a longer time to do so, he did it in the end. This just shows his winning and never-say-never attitude, which is why Arteta is so attracted to him as a player.
