Arsenal want to please their fans even more this transfer window.

With not long remaining in the transfer window, it would seem that Arsenal are increasing their efforts to sign Houssem Aouar from Lyon. According to a report from Football London, the Gunners are prepared to increase their offer to £36.5m for the Frenchman, with £9m in add ons.

It’s quite a common theme for Arsenal in recent seasons, the decision to not pay the full fee straight away. It happened with Nicolas Pepe, with the board opting to pay his valuation in instalments rather than upfront.

I suppose this is a good thing because it means the board are trying to strengthen the club with limited resources, but they also must be prudent in order to avoid getting in debt in the long-run.

In Aouar, the Gunners would be getting an exceptional talent, so he will certainly be worth the money. Especially with Lucas Torreira’s future in doubt, the Frenchman would be a great addition to the starting XI.

Aouar is an attack-minded midfielder who always aims to build his game around the final-third. He would slot in great to Arteta’s system, which revolves around a balanced midfield. With Xhaka sitting deeper and dictating play, it would allow Aouar to get forward and increase his tally for the season, which is what any manager would want.

The Gunners have had an exceptional start to the season, winning their opening three games including a Carabao Cup fixture against Leicester City. Arteta’s attacking philosophy has been key to this recharge since the football looked stale at times under Unai Emery, especially towards the end of his reign. It’s nice to see a fresh approach from a new manager, especially one that knows the club well.
