Manchester United needs one signing that could make them the toughest Premier League contenders this year.

The Red Devils kicked off the 2020/2021 Premier League season with extremely disappointing performances by their standards.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s team lost to Crystal Palace by conceding 3 goals and followed up by grabbing 3 points with a last minute winner against Brighton & Hove Albion but still conceded 2 goals.

Manchester United definitely needs one defensive signing that could make them the toughest Premier League competitors this year.

More from Manchester United

The solution for their defensive fragility could be Kalidou Koulibaly – the wall of Napoli’s defense.

Kalidou Koulibaly is currently 29 years old centre-back and still looks like a world-class defender with at least 5 prime years still in his tank.

According to Metro, Napoli superstar Kalidou Koulibaly has been heavily linked with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City in the recent transfer weeks.

Manchester City have recently bought Ruben Dias instead of signing Kalidou Koulibaly, which indicates that Manchester United only have their arch-rivals Liverpool FC to compete for the top class Senegalese defender.

In current transfer market Kalidou Koulibaly is valued around £60 million but Napoli have hinted that paying £80 million price tag directly is the condition for the Premier League top teams.

The Senegal international defender turns 30 next summer, so with less competition to sign him – Manchester United should consider signing him this summer itself.

Kalidou Koulibaly, who is an well experienced world-class defender who can only improve their defense by bringing the very best out of players like Viktor Lindelof, Harry Maguire and Eric Bailly for playing along with his competitiveness for the Red Devils.
