Manchester United aren’t sitting around in the closing stages of this transfer window.

Manchester United have had a mixed start to this Premier League season, losing their opening match but winning in the second time out. It won’t get any easier this weekend, as they aim to host their former manager Jose Mourinho and Tottenham.

But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not resting on his laurels, which is what the fans will want to see. With not long remaining in the transfer window, United wish to continue making the most of their spending power.

According to a new report from The Mirror, United have opened talks with Barcelona over the potential signing of Ousmane Dembele. The Frenchman does not seem to be in the plans of new manager Ronald Koeman, and could be subject to a loan move away.

More from Manchester United

For Manchester United, this is a win-win situation. By signing Dembele on loan, they are not making him a long-term commitment and at the same time, they won’t be dented financially. They will simply be the home to an immensely talented player, and become first in line to sign him next summer should they wish to.

Of course, Ousmane Dembele has been a long-term target of Arsenal but this should not put Manchester United off. In fact, it should encourage them. Arsenal haven’t had enough backbone to push through and actually sign him, so United would face limited competition.

Dembele is a rapid winger that has an incredibly high footballing intelligence, meaning he is able to know when is best to release the ball. His creative prowess will certainly benefit United, as they look to make more runs in behind the defenders.
