Chelsea may feel it’s best for him to spend a season abroad.

Chelsea have had a topsy-turvy start to life this season. After bidding farewell to the Carabao Cup at the hands of Tottenham and only just escaping humiliation against West Brom, Frank Lampard has a lot to ponder on.

The Blues play today against Crystal Palace, a match in which at the time of writing this, they are leading through a Ben Chilwell goal. It’s signings like this that have given the fans plenty of reason to be confident this season.

However, there is more to accomplish from Lampard’s point of view; as demonstrated by their shaky start to the season. Firstly, they must ensure that all loose ends are fixed in the squad, which entails disposing of some deadwood players.

While Callum Hudson-Odoi is by no means ‘deadwood’, his situation must be addressed. Lampard is not in a position to guarantee him gametime and by leaving him on the bench each week, this is potential wasted. That said, the best option is to loan him out.

According to a new report from the Daily Mail, Chelsea are currently in talks with Bayern Munich over the potential loan move of Callum Hudson-Odoi. If the move comes into fruition, he would be joining some other talented Englishman making a name for themselves in Germany.

Hudson-Odoi is an incredible player with an abundance of potential when used right. Coming off the back of a Champions League win, I’m certain that Hansi Flick will be able to exploit his abilities and improve him as a player, ready for a potential return to Chelsea next season.

As for Hudson-Odoi, he should be willing to learn from a new pool of talented players, which I’m certain he will thrive off such an opportunity.
