The Arsenal hierarchy aren’t just going to sit around and wait.

With the summer transfer window now finished and the Premier League season well underway, it will be easy for teams to disregard the next transfer window, and rightfully so. There are games to play. However, the best teams always have the future in mind, and Mikel Arteta wants Arsenal to be one of those teams.

After a stellar summer and brining in the likes of Willian and Thomas Partey, Arteta is keen to achieve great things this season. However, he is aware that he may need some more help in the January transfer window and to do so, he has already devised a plan.

According to a report from the Express, Arsenal have located Pau Torres as their earliest target for January. The Villareal defender is also subject to interest from Manchester United but this shouldn’t put Arteta off in the pursuit and if anything, should encourage them to push harder.

Arsenal’s defence has taken the biggest improvement since Arteta was unveiled as manager midway through last season. The likes of David Luiz and Kieran Tierney have all immensely benefitted from being under the tutelage of Arteta and I’m certain that Torres coming in will undergo the same fate.

Pau Torres has been a busy man at the start of this campaign, having already secured five La Liga matches and having spent time representing Spain at international level. His team sit fourth in the La Liga standings, which is a good start for them. They have lost just one game but conceded seven goals, which is less than ideal and Torres has high standards of himself so he will be disappointed with this defensive record.
