Arsenal have option to sell this top-quality midfielder to MLS

Arsenal may have the ideal solution to their conundrum.

Arsenal are undergoing a period of transition under Mikel Arteta and to make this a successful period, he and all of his players must be on board to succeed. While things tend to be going right for the Spaniard at the helm of the club he once captained, there are still issues which need to be addressed.

One of those issues is that involving Mesut Ozil. It was recently revealed that the German playmaker would not feature in the Gunners’ Premier League squad for this season, which to many did not come as a surprise given he hasn’t made an appearance for the club since March.

There’s no doubt about it, he will certainly go down as an Arsenal great. However, there is no longer room for him at the club. In truth, he was the player that was hit hardest from Arsene Wenger’s departure and he is still yet to recover. Arteta tried to include him in the squad, but it was hindering the club’s performances to do so.

Now, the playmaker finds himself in a predicament. He’s not going to be playing football at Arsenal for some time, so surely he will look to leave, right? Well, if his social media is anything to go by, then the answer to that question would be no. He seems adamant he wishes to fight for his place at the Emirates Stadium.

According to a new report from The Sun, the Gunners are considering selling Ozil to MLS this summer, with DC United thought to be interested. This should be what the club aims to do; of course, they owe it to Ozil to find him the best possible club but they can’t keep his signature in the books for sentimental purposes; he is the highest earner and needs to be sold if he isn’t playing.
