Can these clubs play spoiler role in the Liguilla?

9. Guadalajara (–2)

The Chivas appear to be in disarray after suffering their eighth shut-out of the season against Cruz Azul. There is even talk that coach Víctor Manuel Vucetich could bench star striker J.J. Macías.

10. Necaxa (—)

The Rayos won their third straight match to strengthen their playoff hopes but the 1-0 road win over struggling Querétaro was hardly convincing. They host Toluca on Friday with a chance to clinch a spot in the wildcard round.

11. Toluca (+1)

The Diablos have responded to new coach Carlos Morales, inspired by the play of veteran Rubens Sambueza who had a goal and an assist in Toluca’s 2-0 win over the Xolos.

12. Puebla (–1)

The Camoteros are one of the most maddening Liga MX teams to follow. They seem to play well enough to claim moral victory as they could after giving León a real test on Friday. Despite having only one win since Aug. 28, a victory at Atlas and a home win over last-place Atlético de San Luis could earn them a spot in the Liga MX playoffs.

13. Atlas (+3)

The Zorros played valiantly against América only to suffer a defensive lapse in minute 89, allowing Aguilas defender Jorge Sánchez to score his first goal of the season to lose 1-0.

14. FC Juárez (+3)

The Bravos gave the Tigres everything they could ask for and coach Gabriel Caballero was likely pleased with the effort. But results speak louder than effort and FC Juárez is tied for fewest wins in Liga MX (3). Even so, if the season were to end today, the Bravos would be in the playoffs.

15. Mazatlán FC (–1)

This club has given up more goals than all other Liga MX teams except Atlético de San Luis and it just so happens that they visit the Tuneros on Thursday. Mazatlán is only 2 points out of a playoff spot so a win at the last-place club could make the season-ending match against Santos a real important one.
