The Arsenal boss is getting fed up of criticism.

There has been plenty to discuss from an Arsenal perspective in recent weeks. Nothing more so than Mesut Ozil‘s shock exclusion from the Premier League squad list. He is not a sure starter, granted, but nobody expected him to be left out the squad entirely.

While there has been plenty of uproar about this decision, Ozil has kept himself to himself and shown solidarity with the fans, claiming that he is one of them. If his social media activity is anything to go by, then he certainly is.

But, is Mikel Arteta really the bad guy for leaving him out of the squad? Short answer, no he is not. He has actually done more than most managers would do in order to try and reincorporate Ozil back into the Arsenal squad after Unai Emery frankly ruined him.

When Arteta was first unveiled as Arsenal manager, it was clear he had one goal in mind; to intergate Ozil back into the starting XI. For the first number of matches, the German playmaker would start consistently and to no real avail. Yet, Arteta persisted.

Therefore, can he really be blamed for Ozil not being in the squad? This is what the Spaniard has claimed, according to Sky Sports. They report Arteta has made clear he gave Ozil many opportunities to prove himself, which he did, before making the decision.

Look, I get it. Mesut Ozil is adored, not just by Arsenal fans but by the world. And so he should be, he has had a stellar career, but this doesn’t mean he’s guaranteed a place in the team. If he is no longer playing like he once did, then Arteta only has this to go by. That said, we should not be profiling Arteta as ruining Ozil’s career because in fact, he tried his hardest to do the opposite.
