Manchester United have revealed their stance on Cristiano Ronaldo.

Cristiano Ronaldo is a player that often makes the headlines, and more often than not this is for breaking records. But in recent years, he has been subject to the odd transfer rumour, most of which linking him to the club that set him up for success; Manchester United.

Ever since he made the move to Real Madrid, United fans have been mourning their loss. They have wanted him to make a return and to no surprise, since he has won international, club and personal honours during his time away.

But he will always owe much of his success to Sir Alex Ferguson and, of course, his boyhood club Sporting Lisbon.

More from Manchester United

Now, ageing at 35 years old, it’s thought he will be looking for a move away to end his career at somewhere other than Juventus. The Italian giants have served him well in the last few seasons, but a player of his calibre, still playing at a magnificent level, will want to challenge for the Champions League; something that Juve seem to fall short of.

According to a new report from Manchester Evening News, Manchester United will not pursue a move for the Portugal superstar. It’s thought they will have their eye elsewhere in the January transfer window, leaving Ronaldo to seek stardom elsewhere.

In many ways, this is probably a good thing. Let’s be honest, United need to keep their expectations much more realistic than signing Ronaldo. The club was at this level once, but not anymore.

Manchester United must focus on rebuilding for the future. They must sign young, talented players to match the experience they already have at the club. And if the sale of Paul Pogba goes ahead, then they will have the funds to do just that.
