Chelsea face a trip to St James Park this weekend.

Ah, it’s finally almost over. The dreaded international break (which by the way, seemed incredibly pointless this time round) will now come to an end, and Premier League action will return. Chelsea kick off the return to English football, as they will travel to Newcastle this Saturday.

Frank Lampard will have had plenty of time to reflect and I’m sure he would have kept a keen eye on his players on international duty to decipher his best squad pick. After all, he will want to pick up all three points, bearing in mind either Leicester, Liverpool or both will drop points since they play each other this weekend.

Here’s how I think Frank Lampard will lineup for this away day…

Edouard Mendy

I can say with confidence that this will be a spot on selection. Kepa should be essentially ruled out, with Mendy in great form. The difference between the two is that Mendy actually wants to play between the Chelsea sticks, and doesn’t make half as many mistakes.

Mendy featured in the last Premier League action against Sheffield United and he will start again against Newcastle.
