Manchester United can begin now to plan their January strategy.

Manchester United have had a mixed season up until now, but alas, they have made progress in the Champions League and are within touching distance of the top four in the Premier League, providing they win their game in hand, of course.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has had a lot to analyse watching his summer transfers in action. The likes of Edinson Cavani and Donny van de Beek have integrated themselves well and look to be key features in the starting XI.

However, the Norwegian boss still has the next transfer window in mind, as January is only month away. It is the perfect time for him to improve the squad and put them in a better position to finish the season on a high. The standards are, of course, another Champions League finish and perhaps domestic silverware.

More from Manchester United

According to a report from the Telegraph, Manchester United have made progress in their bid to sign Jack Grealish from Aston Villa. It’s reported that the Clarets have named their asking price, and it’s around the £100m mark.

This is obviously not ideal, but it’s the price United should be expecting to pay for a player of his quality, at a ripe age of 25 years old. He is on the cusp of a place in the England XI, but I think pretty much every England fan opposes Southgate’s reluctance to start him, apart from those who have been living under a rock this season.

Grealish is an incredible player and he plays with plenty of flare. He has the determination to succeed and ever since he first burst onto the scene, he has proven his loyalty time and time again. These are two factors which will be important to Solskjaer as he tries to turn things round at this once-great club.
