There is something about Arsenal that is missing without Aaron Ramsey.

Arsenal have gone the last few seasons without Aaron Ramsey in the starting lineup, and it’s really beginning to show. While the midfield which Mikel Arteta possesses is by no means bad, it would certainly have been better if the board tied Ramsey down to a new contract.

Ramsey was the kind of player that I would refer to as a cult hero and one which wasn’t appreciated enough during his time at the Emirates Stadium; I would certainly put him among the best 5 Gunners players of this era.

Since he made the big move to Juventus, he is still proving exactly why Arsenal should have never let him go; his work in the final third is unlike many others in his position.

He scores goals and creates assists as if he is an attacker sometimes, and I suppose in many ways, he is. See, when given the license to roam, the Welshman is one of the best box-to-box midfielders in Europe.

The Gunners have signed some stellar midfielders in the hopes of replacing him, including Dani Ceballos, Thomas Partey and Matteo Guendouzi. While they are all exceptional players in their own right, they are not Ramsey.

Arsenal needed a midfielder that can provide a goal threat, because they don’t really have this in the senior team other than Joe Willock, who remains on the cusp of the first team.

So, what are the options for Arsenal? Of course, the finances are limited at the best of times, let alone given the Coronavirus pandemic. I would argue that the best thing to do is to use Guendouzi in the transfer market, either by selling him to raise funds or by using him as a makeweight in a potential swap deal.

Don’t get me wrong, I am a big Guendouzi fan and I think he could make it at any level if he is coached right. However, Arteta is clearly not a fan of his discipline and attitude, therefore, this would become a problem in the long run.
