Providing creativity

As good as Aubameyang is, he can’t do it on his own. Arsenal have been criticised for the longest time for being a one-man rock band in attack and this needs to change.

Arsenal oftentimes adopt a front three which is ideal in the Premier League. However, they often don’t have enough creativity from wide positions, as they like to play either Auba, Willian or Pepe in these positions. Of the three, Pepe is the only one that can provide a good cross. Of course, the Gunners do have creative full-backs but the attacking onus shouldn’t be on them as they have other tasks to carry out.

The ideal solution to this is to keep Pepe out wide, play Aubameyang through the middle and give Reiss Nelson or Bukayo Saka a shot on the other flank. It’s about time Arteta opted for dynamism as opposed to experience, since this is where they have been going wrong in recent times.
Nelson and Saka can play a great ball into the box and, especially is the case for the latter, Auba has enjoyed playing with them.

It’s all well and good Aubameyang getting into promising positions, but he needs creativity in the side so the players can pick him out. When he is given the opportunity to score in promising positions, he rarely disappoints.

I said recently that Mesut Ozil would have benefitted Aubameyang, but with him not in the squad, Arsenal must make do with what’s available to them.
