Barcelona could bid farewell to Lionel Messi

After a legnthy tenure with the Catalan club, it’s looking increasingly likely that Lionel Messi will leave Barcelona. It was revealed today by AS that the club’s presidential candidate Emili Rousaud confirmed that Messi’s wage demands were unsustainable.

In case you have been living under a rock and are not aware, Messi’s contract runs out at the end of this season. This means that he is free to discuss signing on a pre-contract agreement with external clubs from January, although the Barcelona board will want to avoid that.

The three options the Catalans have are to give into Messi’s wage demands, sell him in January or lose him for free in the summer. At this point in time, the second option seems the most realistic. But which two clubs are most likely to sign him?
