The Arsenal manager is understandably frustrated

Arsenal just haven’t been able to hit top gear in recent weeks, and it seems like a decade since they picked up their last win. This is a collective failing, of course, but the strikers and the players around them are mainly at fault; there just aren’t any openings being carved.

And Mikel Arteta is rightfully beginning to grow frustrated at his players. His reactions in post-match interviews tend to be more interested and heated than his side’s display throughout the previous ninety minutes.

According to a new report from Mirror, Arsenal have located one of their transfer targets for the upcoming January transfer window. The Gunners are reportedly interested in signing Maxi Gomez from Valencia.

The Uruguay international has been showing good form lately, much better than that shown by the Arsenal frontline anyway. I feel like he would be the perfect player to partner Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in what could be an altered system by Mikel Arteta.

He may not score a multitude of goals, but Valencia fans will tell you he is a pivotal member of their squad and is the perfect player to link up with. Since the Gunners are struggling with attacking flow, having a player that is always available for a pass and has the ability to flick the ball on would be ideal for Arteta.

I said yesterday that Alexandre Lacazette should be one of the players that Arsenal move on in January and I stand by it. The funds raised through selling the Frenchman would be enough to sign Gomez and Arsenal would be getting a more worthwhile striker from the purchase.

Times are troubling for the Gunners but with a prudent approach to this transfer window, they can end their season on a high.
