Chelsea are no strangers to splashing the cash.

The 2020 summer transfer window was always going to be a weird one with the COVID-19 pandemic and the financial drain it had on many clubs. But Chelsea treated that transfer window as they would any other; by splashing the cash they prudently inherit.

There is nothing like a busy transfer window full of big names to excite the fanbase and get them behind the team for the new season. The Blues will need more of the same support in the second half of the season as they sit in fifth place and wish to climb the table.

According to a new report from 90min, Frank Lampard and company will adopt the same approach as they did in the summer. The report suggests that Chelsea have joined the race to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.

More from Chelsea FC

The Norway international is an incredible player and has a great record for his age. He first burst onto the scene in the Champions League with Salzburg before making the move to Dortmund, where he has only added to his reputation. He is a goal machine and finds himself in great positions, whereby he will rarely miss.

Chelsea already have a great core of young players that will only improve. Adding Haaland into the mix would make them a frightening team for the future. Of course, though, Haaland is already a well-established player that would walk into most of the world’s starting XI. It’s for this reason that Haaland finds himself the subject of much interest, including Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Manchester City who favour themselves to signing the young talent.

Haaland comes from a heritage rich in football, so his family is going to want what’s best for him. If his father feels like a move to the Premier League would benefit him, then of course, he will give guidance to his son.

Where do you think Haaland’s next destination will be?
