I know, I know. I was debating whether to include Emiliano Martinez. Of course, he’s no longer a Gunner but he was for many years and there’s no bad blood between him and the club. When Bernd Leno suffered an unfortunate injury which saw him out of action for the second half of last season, Martinez stepped up to the mark.

He played terrifically and there were many tears as he deservedly led the North London sideto lift the FA Cup, courtesy of some fine displays in net. It was the most fitting romantic end to the club that has served him well. He never stopped believing in himself, and left an important message to the dressing room.
