Manchester United have expressed a keen interest in strengthening their defence, and rightfully so. As their greatest ever manager claimed, defence is what wins you titles. In the market right now, there aren’t many better than Dayot Upamecano.

Manchester United were one of the many clubs interested in signing the RB Leipzig brick-wall in the summer. However, after his contract extension, they could be one of the only clubs daring enough to push for a move for him. This could work in Woodward’s favour.

Upamecano would certainly tighten up United’s defence, which would put them in good stead to push Liverpool for the title. Too early?
