Arsenal are not wanting to be part of his deal.
One Arsenal man’s name that has caught much attention over the last number of days is Mesut Ozil. It’s thought that the German playmaker has agreed a deal to move elsewhere after his contract is up, which is this summer.
It’s been a long time coming but fans should overall be happy this is the outcome given the situation. Arteta doesn’t plan to start him anytime soon and if anything, Ozil’s massive wage bill while not being used is only serving as a problem for the Gunners.
According to a new report from the Guardian, Ozil is in talks with Fenerbahce still over a potential loan move, which will see him spend the last six months of his Arsenal contract in Turkey before joining the Super Lig giants permanently.

However, the Guardian also claims that Arsenal are not willing to pay any part of his wage should he choose to sign for Fenerbahce on loan. This is the right thing to do given the fact that he earns over the odds for what he provides anyway.
Should Arsenal be relieved of the huge wage strain, they can focus on bringing in some top quality players with the additional funds. This will serve the club well in the long-run, as Ozil’s career has been in some decline for the last number of seasons.
Of course, as fans it’s easy to be sentimental and not see which decisions are best for the long-term health of the club. Ozil was a terrific signing and in many ways he typified Wenger’s immense project at Emirates Stadium. But it wasn’t to be long-term and in truth, ever since Alexis Sanchez left and Unai Emery took over at the club, Ozil has not been living up to his usual standard.
