Arsenal have decided Emi Buendia isn’t worth the asking price.

The main transfer story surrounding Arsenal in recent weeks has, perhaps unsurprisingly been involved Mesut Ozil, The German playmaker seems to have resolved his future, given the fact his contract runs out at the end of this season. If claims from journalist and indeed his Twitter activity is anything to go by, he will sign for Fenerbahce on a pre-contract agreement and is rather excited for a new venture in old surroundings.

But, where does this leave Arsenal? Although they have not played the attackibg midfielder in some time, since before the first lockdown in the UK to be precise, they will still miss what he offers.

Many names have been thrown in the mix lately, but one name seems to crop up more than the rest and that is Emi Buendia of Norwich City. The 24-year-old midfielder was known to be one of the better bottom-half Premier League players last season and was by no means responsibly for Norwich’s eventual relegation.

More from Arsenal FC

Buendia is a player that possesses plenty of flair and close-control, but what makes him the ideal Ozil successor is that he can create well. Being the main creator over the last number of seasons for the Canaries, he could replicate this with a better group of players at Arsenal.

However, according to a new report from Express, fans can essentially kiss goodbye to their hopes of seeing the Argentine in red. They report that the club have dropped out of the race to sign him, after Norwich began to demand £40m for his signature.

This decision from the Gunners is completely fair enough. They don’t have the best financial backing at the best of times but given the rumours they’ve taken out a COVID-19 loan, they’re not receiving any additional help from a certain Stan Kroenke. Anyway, not to be crude but no Championship player is worth this amount of money.

Who do you think Arsenal should sign this January?
