Chelsea recently unveiled the new managerial appointment of Thomas Tuchel, after it was revealed that Frank Lampard had been sacked. The mood around the club is positive right now, with many fans feeling like Tuchel is the man that can lead Chelsea back to glory.

Tuchel is excellent at working with younger players, which is why it’s a good job he was signed post-Lampard. The English manager was known to promote many youngsters into the starting XI, which will have probably built the right foundations for Tuchel to succeed.

But now that Tuchel is the manager, there is plenty for him to consider going forward.

Who will Thomas Tuchel sign at Chelsea?

More from Chelsea FC

While Chelsea may have made many big-money signings over the last number of seasons, they are nowhere near a perfect squad. Just a look at the league standings will tell you that. That said, Tuchel needs to get hard at work.

According to a report from SportBild, Thomas Tuchel has made his transfer priority abundantly clear. He wants to sign Dayot Upamecano from RB Leipzig.

Many clubs across Europe have been interested in signing Upamecano and it’s clear to see why. The defender is a beast and it’s very rare that he lets things get past him. This is the reason why Leipzig offered him a contract, because he is just too valuable to lose.

Chelsea likely won’t sign Upamecano this transfer window, unless they are quick about it. That’s my opinion anyway, don’t take it as cold-hard facts.

But either way, it’s good to see that Thomas Tuchel is coming in with a plan. It’ll take him time to settle in and learn more about the squad available to him, this is only natural, but he has knowledge from other countries throughout his career, this is something that Frank Lampard simply didn’t have.
