Southampton 1-3 Arsenal: 3 things learned as Bukayo Saka shines
3. Cedric continues to prove his worth
Another player who has continued to prove his worth and why Arsenal signed him is defender and former Saints player Cedric Soares.
He has started three games this season in both the right-back and left-back position. He is naturally a right-back but has filled in for left-back Kieran Tierney who is currently injured.
To slot into an unnatural position, especially considering you’re not a regular starter, is a big ask but something that he has adapted to brilliantly and he has really impressed.
He made some brilliant passes last night, not to mention the pre-assist to Saka before Lacazette tapped it into the back of the net. Bukayo was asked about the pass in his post-match interview and said: ” it was amazing, I don’t even think he looked at me.”
Some stats from the game last night include two clearances, two key passes three tackles. He’s certainly a player who has proved he wants regular starts and with Tierney returning to fitness soon, it will be interesting to see if Arteta chooses Cedric over Hector Bellerin, who has also been impressing
