2. Emile Smith Rowe

Emile Smith Rowe is a player that I admire greatly. He is in superb form and I’m certain that yesterday was only a small blip, but he still wasn’t worthy of praise yesterday. He was brought off in place of Martin Odegaard and I feel like this was telling of his performance.

Admittedly, Smith Rowe wasn’t helped by Bukayo Saka’s exclusion from the starting XI as the two of them oftentimes work the best together. Should he be excluded from the XI in the next match? No, unless to be rested. But should he learn from the lacklustre display last night? Absolutely. It cannot become the norm for him now.
