Chelsea’s new boss Thomas Tuchel is not resting on his laurels despite getting off to a good start. The manager is one that prides himself on the ability to spy a good transfer and having had good financial backing at Paris Saint-Germain, he will be expecting plenty of the same at Chelsea.

The Blues had what seemed to be an excellent transfer window last summer but they will hope to be more prudent in the upcoming one. Timo Werner has only just returned to goal scoring form, after all.

According to 90min, Chelsea are being very prudent. They claim to be the only Premier League side so far that has offered David Alaba of Bayern Munich a contract. The defender stroke midfielder runs out of contract at the end of the season so is free to discuss pre-contract agreements.

David Alaba, despite being only 28 years old, already has plenty of experience at the top level and has been playing amongst the world’s best for some time now. Under a multitude of different managers, the Austria international has learned a thing or two about the trade.

Alaba is a player which Thomas Tuchel knows a lot about from his time with Borussia Dortmund, but for all the wrong reasons since Alaba is a nightmare to play against. He has a great range of passing and is oftentimes solid in one-on-one situations.

The full-back area is one that Thomas Tuchel seems to pride hismelf on. While there have been signs a resurgence could on the cards for the likes of Marcos Alonso, Tuchel would ideally like better. Therefore, it seems like a win-win for the Blues to sign a player of world-class quality with zero financial strain.
