Arsenal come up against Benfica tomorrow night in the Europa League; a competition which receives mixed reviews. Obviously, the Gunners are more accustomed to playing in the Champions League but times are different now.

With that being said, here are three reasons why Arsenal should take the Europa League extra seriously this season…

1. Arsenal’s only chance of silverware

Let’s face it, while it still may be mathematically possible, the Gunners aren’t going to win the Premier League this season. They won’t even come close. That ship had sailed a few weeks into the season if we’re being completely honest, as did the FA Cup when the Gunners had to bid farewell.

With that being said, the Europa League is a serious chance for the Gunners to land a second successive season with silverware, which will certainly boost the confidence under Arteta again.
