It takes a great player to come into a struggling club and transform them into trophy contenders again, and that’s exactly what Bruno Fernandes has done at Manchester United. The Portugal midfielder has been absolutely incredible and I can’t remember the last time he had a bad match.
Even as a rival fan, I enjoy watching him play the game. He approaches each match with flair and oozing confidence, shown by his ice-cold nature. Both a creator and a goal scorer, there isn’t much he doesn’t have.
Which is why, despite only recently signing him, Manchester United want to do all they can to keep him. They have some talented midfielders in their ranks but none quite like Bruno. According to The Sun, Fernandes is set to sign a contract extension which would see him earn £200,000 per week.

Many would argue that in the modern inflated game, this still isn’t enough. However, Fernandes doesn’t strike me as a money-chasing player and instead he just loves the game. A rare breed, for sure, but United could see him as pivotal to their future.
Given that the Portugal international ages at only 26 years old, tying him down long-term is exactly what United want to be doing. He is now entering the prime stages of his career, meaning he will only get better.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is very much, in my opinion anyway, the long-term choice for United. He’s shown how he can improve the side if the board just stick with him through the tough times, which there will be plenty of to be frank. That said, it’s players like Bruno who he wants to be building a team around, so with the right defence and attack, United could be sorted for many years to come.
