This morning saw some great news for Liverpool fans, as it turns out they are still interested in signing a player everybody wanted them to in the summer. That’s right, according to AS, Liverpool will put in a move to sign Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

However, they will face competition from Real Madrid. This was to be expected, though, Los Blancos have long coveted the potential signing of Mbappe. Besides, he’s probably the best young player in the world, so why would teams not be lining up to sign him?

Luckily, the Reds can challenge Real Madrid both financially and in terms of pull factor. Both are superclubs that consistently challenge in both European and domestic competitions. Therefore, Liverpool’s confidence is justified. They are not completely outmuscled.

Kylian Mbappe is the perfect signing for Liverpool’s system

More from Liverpool FC

Liverpool’s style of play which has won them many accolades over the last number of seasons relies heavily on high-pressing and fast, fluid attacking football. The good thing about signing Mbappe is that he has all of those qualities.

For both Monaco and PSG, the youngster has really honed his craft in being one of the fastest players. He is a nightmare to defend against because he is always breathing down the necks of defenders, which will serve him well should he sign for Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of players of this breed, hence the signings of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. He would slot in perfectly to an already near-perfect Liverpool attack. Although the question must be raised; why are the Anfield side not looking to invest in the defence?

It’s clear to see how the absence of Virgil van Dijk has left them at a severe disadvantage so they should really be looking to bring in some backup just in case he receives another long-term injury. But I must say, I am merely a blogger. I know nowhere near as much of the Liverpool squad as Jurgen does.
