It takes a truly great player to settle into any situation at the snap of the fingers. The reality is, many Chelsea players have taken time to adjust when signing, and it’s true for most clubs. However, when signing a star-studded striker, you expect more from them than the Blues have seen from Timo Werner since his arrival.

The tenure started off rather promising as Werner started to score goals under Frank Lampard but the form has far from continued. Now, as we are in the second half of the season, fans are beginning to realise that actually, Olivier Giroud is playing far better than him even at the ripe age of 34.

But, is it time to give up? Or should Thomas Tuchel give him one last chance? Well, according to Football Insider, Chelsea are still on the fence but are on the side of selling him this summer, should the right suitor come along.

I think it’s important to remember, Tuchel isn’t the one that signed Werner. Therefore, he shouldn’t be given the onus of trying to salvage something from his signing. In the eyes of Tuchel, Werner is simply another Chelsea player, one that he can scrutinise only by what he sees in front of his very eyes.

With that being said, Werner hasn’t given Tuchel any reason to trust him either. In fact, Giroud has yet again been performing better for him, so I can understand Chelsea’s willingness to sell him in the summer.

As for options, there are plenty for Chelsea to consider. If they wish to go high end, then Erling Haaland is worth the pursuit, although the Blues would have to fend off hefty competition in Manchester City and Real Madrid.
