It’s always important to take paper talk with a pinch of salt. We as fans can oftentimes get caught in the trap of believing everything we read about the players we adore. But the truth is, only the players know where they truly stand on events. Edinson Cavani of Manchester United is no exception.

It was recently reported that Edinson Cavani wanted to leave Manchester United, following comments his father had made about him joining Boca Juniors. However, this was blown out of proportion, and Cavani has now come out to say he will want until the end of the season to make his decision.

The news come from ESPN, but the decision comes from Cavani himself, which should be the most important factor here. And if anything, it should serve as a lesson to all fans, myself included, not to believe everything we read in the media.

Manchester United should have a lot of hope

More from Manchester United

Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs in the world with a huge pull factor. While their form may have deteriorated since Sir Alex retired, that fact remains the same. It’s why they attract some of the best players in the world, Cavani included.

While he may not have lived up to his huge expectation, he’s still been pretty solid. And United are heading in a good direction under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, so fans have every right to be positive about Cavani staying, should they want him to of course.

But if the time does come and Cavani chooses Boca Juniors or any other side, then United shouldn’t be too disheartened. He isn’t getting any younger and he was only signed as a short-term fix, anyway. There are long-term options available in the transfer market.
