Manchester United and Chelsea have produced many great battles over the last number of years, mainly on the pitch. Although, they are also known to have their fair share of tussles in the transfer window too, which is no surprise given they are both financial powerhouses with the ability to pull the best players.

Wherever Manchester United are interested, so too are Chelsea, it seems to be. And this intersectionality has yet again been proven. According to a report from the Express, both he Blues and the Red Devils want to sign Gianluca Mancini from Roma.

Mancini is an expert midfielder who excels in one of the most pivotal roles, as the destroyer or deep-lying midfielder. Serie A analysis have him down as a brute midfielder who can compete for the ball both standing and jumping, which would make him perfectly suited to the physical nature of the English Premier League.

Manchester United would have more use for him than Chelsea

More from Chelsea FC

Unless Chelsea are looking to sell N’Golo Kante this summer, which there might well be a possibility of, Mancini would be much better suited to signing for Manchester United. This is because Chelsea already have their anchor in Kante, with Tuchel making great use of him in recent weeks.

With Manchester United, he would be pretty much guaranteed game time too. He is the perfect player as Solskjaer looks to add more rigidity to his midfield in order to perfect the position. Having Europa League experience too, the Italian midfielder would be prepared for both the UEL and UCL, depending on where the Red Devils qualify.

However, of course, Chelsea would also make great use of him. Tuchel is excellent with working building players from scratch, but he can also work with developed players like Mancini. I just think United would be the better shout.

Who do you think will sign Gianluca Mancini?
