Chelsea will resort to former striker if Haaland deal collapses
By Kian Long
If you’re a Chelsea fan, then chances are one name has been running through your mind over the last month or so. That name is Erling Haaland, the young Norwegian superstar who has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.
Breaking onto the scene with Salzburg but really making a name for himself with Dortmund, Haaland is a true goal machine. There rarely seems to be a game that goes by where he is not the most prominent player on the pitch. His unorthodox style makes it difficult for defenders to read him, and his canon shot makes it difficult for goalkeepers to prevent him.
He would be perfect for Chelsea and most particularly to the philosophy which Thomas Tuchel is surely implementing. The German boss loves to work with young players, so Haaland would be a delight to manage.
Chelsea will have a plan B lined up

However, Chelsea mustn’t put all their eggs in one basket. Of course they shouldn’t, there will be a lot of clubs trying to get their hands on Haaland so they can’t guarantee they will land him. Plus, there are bound to be financial setbacks.
According to a report from the Telegraph, Chelsea are prepared for this potential. And by the looks of it, they’ve been prepared for many years, as the English outlet claims Chelsea could look to sign their former striker Romelu Lukaku, now playing for Inter Milan, should they not sign Haaland.
Obviously, no fan wants to see their club settle for the second option. But Lukaku is much more than just a second option. While Haaland might be the luxury signing, this doesn’t take away from Romelu’s immense ability. Since leaving Stamford Bridge, the Belgium international has done a lot of work in crafting his game to be the perfect striker, learning from some of the best in the world.
