Thomas Tuchel is not the biggest fan of Timo Werner, this has been abundantly clear since he was announced as the Chelsea boss, taking over from Lampard. But just because Tuchel doesn’t like Werner, it doesn’t mean he has no respect for him. The last thing he would want is for a player to rot away on his bench.

So, Tuchel is looking to pave a way for Werner’s future, while benefitting Chelsea at the same time. According to a report from the Express, Tuchel has asked Abramovich if he can use Werner as part of a potential swap deal for Erling Haaland.

This is a smart move from Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea

Obviously, Borussia Dortmund will be more inclined to sell Haaland if they know they’ll be getting a player in return. And during his time with Leipzig, BVB learned a lot about Werner (where he was in much greater form than he is showing at Stamford Bridge.

Therefore, it would seem at face value at least, that this is a move that would benefit all parties involved. Haaland has made it clear he wants to play in the Champions League next season, a competition in which the Blues are showing great form in this season and even have a chance of winning.

Haaland is only young, 20 to be exact, but when watching him on the pitch, it’s hard to tell. The way he plays makes him look like one of the more experienced players on the pitch (his immense height and physicality help with that), however, he still has the youthful bursts of pace that make him difficult to defend against.

Given Chelsea’s creativity in the likes of Mason Mount, Haaland would be given a great platform to go out there and add to his already impressive goal tally. Having conquered two leagues already, he is most certainly up to Premier League standard.

Do you think Haaland will play for Chelsea anytime soon?
