Aubameyang didn’t turn up

This season has certainly been Aubameyang’s weakest in an Arsenal shirt and the Ghanian has never really got fully going this campaign, which continues to raise lots of questions for Arsenal fans as well as journalists and pundits who have kept a close eye on him.

Arteta likes to either play Aubameyang upfront as a central striker which is his natural position or on the left-wing, where he has proven to struggle a lot with creating chances and getting into the box.

Although he created two chances, the striker only completed 18 accurate passes and at times you forgot he was on the pitch playing because he didn’t seem to get involved with much of the action.

Plenty of fans have questioned Arteta’s tactics with Aubameyang and have stated that we need to play a natural winger at left-wing and not try and fit Aubameyang into a role that he can’t play consistently at.

The striker’s performances have been very inconsistent this season and maybe he should start being benched more often, as the North London Derby victory proved that Aubameyang isn’t always needed in the big games to make a difference.

Arteta has other players at his disposal, like Gabriel Martinelli, who deserves the minutes and can prove himself to the players and the managers.

Arsenal’s singings in the summer transfer window will be crucial to their team pushing for better things in the seasons to come and also for Arteta’s future at the club because performances like these are indescribable and inexcusable.
