Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp wants to sign this in-form Arsenal midfielder
By Kian Long
Arsenal aren’t doing too well in the league standings and especially after their loss to Liverpool recently, are looking like they lack confidence. But there is one player that Klopp is interested in signing from their Premier League rivals.
And, surprise surprise, it’s exactly the player that Arsenal want to keep. According to AS, the Real Midfielder midfielder who is currently on loan at the Gunners, Martin Odegaard, is racking up interest from both Arsenal and Liverpool.
Liverpool are no threat to Arsenal
Arsenal’s plan should remain the same. Odegaard seems pretty happy at the Emirates Stadium as he is showing great form and scoring some amazing goals in important games. Should they wish to sign him, and they finish the season on a high, they will probably be the Norwegian’s first-choice.
This wouldn’t be too bad either, given Haaland’s comments about wanting to play wherever Odegaard plays. In case you didn’t get it, that was sarcasm; Arsenal are a long way off signing Haaland.
You can understand why Klopp would want to sign Odegaard. He is the perfect midfielder for his system, which revolves around high-pressing and energetic football, with the midfielders responsible for getting forward and creating chances. Not only is Odegaard scoring goals for Arsenal but he is also filling the void left by Ozil by creating chances left, right and centre.
It needs to be a strong summer for Liverpool, given the shambles of a season they’ve had so far. Although, it would be made significantly easier if they win the Champions League this season, as they face Odegaard’s parent club Real Madrid this week.
I’m certain the Norwegian will have his eyes on this one, in the down-time he gets from training for his Europa League clash. He’ll be flattered by the interest, but for now, his priorities will remain performing at the best of his ability in an Arsenal shirt.
Do you think Liverpool stand a chance of signing Odegaard?
