Nobody in EPL history has more goals for a single club than Sergio Aguero

This is a fact after the 5-0 slaughter of Everton when Sergio Aguero was substituted in to have his final Premier League glory. While the Argentinian is going to Barcelona next season, he was able to score his 183rd and 184th goals for Manchester City, breaking the record previously held by Wayne Rooney of crosstown rivals Manchester United.

After the game, Pep Guardiola was in tears as he was talking about Kun Aguero — the man who will likely go down as one of the most legendary Manchester City players in the clubs long history.

His legendary ability to score and to influence the game for his team will be spoken about long after he hangs up his boots, at either City or another club, and he will be cheered whenever he should find himself back in Manchester.

The player is unforgettable, unbelievable and worth considering amongst the greats of his generation in what is understood to be the toughest domestic soccer league in the world. Sergio Aguero has made it look far, far easier than it is.

Sergio Aguero: Making things look way easier than they are for a very long time

While the player is leaving England for Spain, Manchester for Barcelona, he will not soon be leaving the hearts of those in the blue side of Manchester. He has scored on the final day of the season in multiple memorable occasions now.

While this one was his farewell game for his longtime club, it was years ago that a goal of his helped City find the title for the first time at the end of the 2011-2012 campaign.

The great friend of Leo Messi has never gotten the accolades that his compatriot has received, likely because he has not won a Champions League during his time with City. Should the team accomplish this feat against Chelsea on the weekend, he might be coming to Barcelona a Champions League winner.

That would be sweet for the player, yet he has nothing to feel bad about should they come up short against Chelsea. Aguero has proven himself the consummate professional and one that should be considered amongst the best of his generation and the Premier League as well.

When Guardiola said, through tears, that there was no replacing Kun Aguero, it was felt from the bottom of his very soul. It was both kind and accurate, for the player holds a special place in the hearts of all who remember the years of hardship for the club before oil money helped to raise the club up.

He has given his all for the club, including scoring a brace after he entered the game as a substitute in his final match in the Premier League against Everton.

This is the type of send off that the great players create for themselves. By their tireless actions across games, weeks, months and campaigns. Aguero earned this send off and he’s earned a victory in the Champions League final against Chelsea.

Will he get that too? It is not known at this time yet while I have no real horse in the proverbial race, romantic sentimentalism dictates that it would be storybook for the player to leave City with a treble that included the UCL and Premier League.

Things don’t always work out so nicely and this might not either. Regardless, Aguero has defined himself as a Hall of Fame Premier League player. He is City’s Thierry Henry, Newcastle’s Alan Shearer, or any other comparison one might wish to make.

He is all of that and it is right to honor greatness when we see it, even if it is not for our side. When you see greatness, appreciate it, and appreciate what it takes for greatness to emerge from any and every human on the planet.
