Sergio Ramos is not going to be without a team for very long as the now former Real Madrid center back is close to a deal with Paris Saint-Germain.

According to ESPN, negotiations between the two sides are in the advanced stage and an official announcement could be made in the coming days. Ramos is looking for a two-year deal but PSG are only offering a one-year deal with an option for a second.

His wages are expected to be lower than what he was earning at Real Madrid.

Should he join PSG, he will be reunited with former teammates Keylor Navas and Angel Di Maria. The hope from the Parisians is that he can provide experience and leadership to their backline. Similar to what former PSG defender Thiago Silva did at Chelsea.

The options were limited for Ramos once it was announced he would be leaving Real Madrid. Aside from PSG, he was also linked with Manchester City and a possible return to Sevilla.

Given what Ramos said during his farewell press conference, his intention was to remain with the Spanish giants.

He revealed that the club had offered him a contract and when he finally accepted, he was told that the contract was no longer valid. Something that came as a huge surprise for him.

Ramos appears to have officially closed his Real Madrid chapter as, according to Marca, he’s deleted any reference to his former club on his social media profiles.

The potential signing may not be entirely risk-free for PSG, however. While he will come as a free agent, he is 35 years old. He spent the majority of last season injured and was less than his stellar self when he did feature.
