Despite Keylor Navas being their main goalkeeper, it never hurts to have another world class player in that position.
At only 22, Donnarumma had an exceptional summer at Euro 2020 with Italy. He won the tournament and was high in the penalty shoot-out against Spain and England.
In the final, he stopped the final two penalties to give Italy the title. He was named the Euro 2020 Player of the Tournament.
"“We are pleased to welcome Gianluigi Donnarumma to Paris Saint-Germain,” said PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi. “We congratulate him on his victory at Euro 2020, and his title as the best player of the competition.“I know Gianluigi will receive a warm welcome from everyone at the club, including his team-mates, our staff and all the Parisian supporters.”Source: Goal"
In a statement posted on the PSG website, Donnarumma said, “I am delighted to be part of this huge club. I feel ready to take on this new challenge and continue to grow here. With Paris, I want to win as much as possible and to bring joy to the supporters.”
Donnarumma becomes the club’s fourth signing of the offseason after Georginio Wijnaldum, Sergio Ramos and Achraf Hakimi. The only one they paid a transfer fee for was Hakimi. The other three were all signed as free agents.
The two sides came to an agreement on a five-year contract that will keep the keeper at PSG until June 30 2026.
