3 reasons why Liverpool should sign promising Monaco midfielder
By Nayan Dey
Liverpool have kicked off its 2021-22 Premier League campaign in scintillating fashion by beating Norwich City 3-0. The Reds were defensively solid and their attack were clinical in front of goal to help them seal all 3 points at Carrow Road.
Despite resting Thiago, Henderson and benching Fabinho, midfielders like James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain put in a great shift in helping their team grind out the result in an entertaining league opening fixture.
In a recent interview, Jurgen Klopp said Liverpool might sign a player (or) two before the transfer deadline and in recent weeks they have been heavily linked with AS Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.
According to Corriere Dello Sport, the Merseyside giants could post a £25-30 million transfer fee to secure the signature of the young French midfielder Aurelien Tchoameni in the upcoming weeks.
Here are three reasons why Liverpool should sign Tchouameni:
- Promising French prospect
Aurelien Tchouameni is only 21 years old and is already considered one of the most promising young mids in Ligue 1.
Liverpool have already signed highly rated French defender Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig this summer and if Tchouameni follows, Jurgen Klopp can guide them both in a right direction to fulfill their immense potential.
- Affordable price tag
In recent transfer windows, most of the recognised defensive midfielders have been carrying the burden of huge price tags, but Thcouameni is valued around £25-30 million.
It sounds like a bargain deal considering how Monaco have sold previous star midfielders like Fabinho and Tiémoué Bakayoko for an eye-catching £40-50 million transfer fees each.
- Future king of tackles
Tchouameni has clearly been playing the role of perfect defensive midfielder at the Stade Louis II for awhile now.
In the 2020-21 season, the French midfielder made 97 tackles and helped Monaco maintain the highest possession of 56% on average during the season.
With Gini Wijnaldum gone, the Reds must replace his relentless work rate. Gini was impressive at tackling and his ability to score memorable goals for the Reds will surely be missed.
Should Liverpool go all out for Aurelien Tchouameni before the end of the summer transfer window?
