The hits just keep on coming for Barcelona following the 3-0 Champions League thrashing courtesy of Bayern Munich.

The Catalan side provided an update for Jordi Alba and revealed that midfielder Pedri also picked up a knock during the game.

Alba suffered a right hamstring injury and Pedri has a left thigh injury. Both are expected to miss the next match against Granada.

The injury bug continues to plague an already short Barcelona squad.

While the club did not give a timetable for their return, according to Diario AS, Pedri is set to be out for two to three weeks. The best case scenario would see him back in time for the fixture against Atletico Madrid.

As for Alba, he is expected to be out between three to four weeks, which means he won’t be back until after the Atletico match in mid-October.

The left back had to be taken off during the second half against Bayern Munich. The camera panned to him on the bench looking rather desolate.

It is important to note that Alba was a doubt all week after returning from the international break injured. Still, manager Ronald Koeman decided to risk it and play him. His gamble failed as not only did Alba get injured but the team lost rather heavily.

The injury crisis at Barcelona could not have come at a worse time with a manager under fire and his job on the line. The list of sidelined players was already long and has now added two more names.

With Junior Firpo sold to Leeds United, unless Koeman wants to experiment, Barça B’s Alejandro Baldé will be called upon to make his LaLiga debut. He made his Champions League debut when he replaced Alba.

As for Pedri, midfield is an area where the Dutchman does have plenty of options. He could use Sergi Roberto or Gavi. The less said about Riqui Puig the better as he would have to be the only option for Koeman to look his way.

Things look bleak at the moment for Barcelona and must now try to shake off the Bayern defeat and get back on track in LaLiga. But they’ll have to do so without two of their mainstays in defense and midfield.
