PSG star Kylian Mbappé has opened up about life with the French giants as well as his failed move to Real Madrid before the start of the season.

His comments are sure to perk up some ears in Spain and create some concern within the PSG offices as well as its supporters.

"“I asked to leave because from the moment I didn’t want to extend [my contract], I wanted the club to receive a transfer fee to bring in a quality replacement,” Mbappé said to RMC Sport.“It’s a club that’s given me a lot, I’ve always been happy during the four years I’ve been here and I still am. I said it early enough so that the club could react.“I wanted everyone to come out of this stronger, that we leave hand in hand, to make a good deal, and I respected that. I said, if you don’t want me to leave, I will stay.”Source: ESPN"

Mbappé’s contract with PSG runs out at the end of the season

Real Madrid came in twice for Mbappé prior to the start of the season with PSG rejecting both offers. According to Mbappé, one of the reasons he wanted to leave now is to ensure the club receive a transfer fee.

From all accounts, the 22-year-old is unlikely to sign a new contract and thus will leave as a free agent.

In a second interview with L’Equipe, Mbappé once again reiterated he believes his time with the club was over.

"“I thought that my adventure [with PSG] was over,” Mbappé added. “I wanted to discover something else. I’d been in the French league six or seven years. I’ve given what I tried to at Paris and I think I’ve done it well.“But everyone is free to draw the conclusions they want, but that’s my assessment. Leaving was the logical next step.”Source: ESPN"

He also admitted what everyone already knew that if he was to have left in the summer, it would have been to Real Madrid. The arrival of Lionel Messi has not changed his mind either.

It is no secret the near obsession Florentino Perez has with bringing in the Frenchman. The Real Madrid president let out that there would be news about Mbappé with the hope “everything could be solved” in January. However, according to Marca, Perez said his words were misinterpreted and meant they would have to wait until next year.

From the looks of the two interviews, it seems like Mbappé has not changed his mind with regards to his future. All of it is pointing towards a PSG exit to Real Madrid.

There is no doubt the Parisian side is going to do everything they can to change his mind but it may turn into an exercise in futility. PSG is a healthy financial club but even they are going to regret seeing a player of Mbappé’s quality leave without getting a transfer fee in return.
