Brentford striker Ivan Toney confessed to dreaming about paying for Liverpool, while also revealing that he grew up as a Liverpool supporter. He admitted that he would be content to join the club even as a squad player.
The 25 year-old striker is currently the first-choice forward for Brentford who are off to a flying start in the Premier League. According to This is Anfield, Ivan Toney revealed that he was a Liverpool supporter as a child.
Toney still has a lot to offer and after his recent performances, he has grabbed the attention of a lot of top clubs, including Liverpool. His performance against The Reds was eye-catching, the forward continuously terrorised their highly rated defence throughout the match.
After the eventful 3-3 draw, Toney wrote in his social media account that coming up against Liverpool was a dream come true.
If Liverpool calls, Toney would answer
In the This is Anfield interview, he was asked if he grew up supporting any particular Premier League club, Toney added more fuel to fire, he responded by saying he supports Liverpool.
“I support Liverpool. If they come knocking, who knows?” he said. “Who knows. I’d have to go to Liverpool and make myself the main man.”
The Merseyside giants are currently holding second spot in the league and are expected be one of the title contenders to compete with Chelsea and Manchester City.
Liverpool are currently relying on Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota to carry the goal-scoring duties. But in the not-so-distant future, the Reds might be expected to be active in the transfer market.
Ivan Toney is still young and his addition to the squad would bring some quality, real pace, skills and lethality to the Liverpool front line. The Reds will have less burden to rely on squad players like Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino during cup games.
Imagine when their full-backs Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson sending in quality centering passes and Ivan Toney getting on the end of those crosses. It would be fun to watch him convert those balls with his clinical finishing ability.
Should Liverpool sign Ivan Toney in next year’s summer transfer window?
