Liverpool received a huge boost in their transfer hunt for Paris Saint-Germain’s sensational forward Kylian Mbappe. The Reds have been linked with the French striker for years, even though Real Madrid were considered as the favorites to sign him last summer.

According to Sports Mole, Mbappe wants to play for Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp. The Frenchman ended up staying in  Ligue 1 with Paris Saint-Germain after intense speculation about his move to Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old looked set to leave the Parc de Princes and even admitted Real Madrid would be his ultimate destination. However, times have changed. Mbappe is considering other options aside from the Spanish giants who are managed by Carlo Ancelotti.

Mbappe reportedly has the desire to work with Klopp and this could put Liverpool in the driver’s seat next summer. But the Reds are in a financial crisis themselves and their fans were considering protests against their owners, FSG.

Fenway Sports Group may not have spent big in the summer transfer market, but the Reds managed to secure the future of their star players, including Alisson, Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Mohamed Salah is currently their best player this season. If he continues producing blistering performances, FSG may find it hard to keep hold of the Egyptian star. The 29-year-old winger’s contract expires in 2023 and is chasing a deal in excess of £400,000 a week.

Liverpool will try their best to keep hold of Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane. Otherwise they could end up as free agents in 2023. It would be  heart-breaking news for Klopp and Liverpool. The idea of securing Mbappe might or might not definitely convince their fans to accept the other departures.

Mbappe is said to be a huge admirer of Klopp and believes that his use of gegenpressing – a counter-pressing tactical approach popularized by the German manager would be the perfect match to fit his attributes.
